Club History & Demographics

Picture
The Fond du Lac Running Club was co-founded in 1979 by Robert Bailey and the late Paul Butzen to bring affordable, quality running and walking events to the greater Fond du Lac area.

A Board of Directors was formed in 1981 and a club constitution was drafted in 1983. The Fond du Lac Running Club obtained 501(c)(3) non-profit status in 1994.

Today our membership has grown to over 300 members. Our club's largest event, The Agnesian Walleye Run/Walk, attracts nearly 2,000 participants annually. We offer several road races throughout the year along with free group runs and track workouts, Youth Running Series, and pub runs during the spring and summer months. Our monthly newsletter, Fondy Footnotes keeps the membership up to speed regarding all aspects of the club. Two scholarships are offered annually; one for area graduating high school seniors and one for club members pursuing a full time post-secondary degree.

Fond du Lac is located in East Central Wisconsin at the southern tip of Lake Winnebago. The city has a population of 43,000 and is centrally located between Milwaukee (60 miles south), Green Bay (70 miles north) and Madison (65 miles southwest).

Memberships are available to anyone interested in running or walking for competitive, general fitness or social related reasons. Join us today!
