Elite Athletes


The Hot Trot welcomes elite athletes in both the 15K Run and the 1 Mile Run.  All athletes accepted to our elite field will receive a complimentary entry.  

Due to WIAA guidelines, high school athletes are not eligible to be accepted to our elite field or accept prize money.  However, these athletes are still welcome and encouraged to participate in the event.  Collegiate athletes may be granted a complimentary entry but are not eligible to receive prize money.

2016 Elite Athlete Standards
Elite athletes with the following current credentials (within the past 18 months) will be considered:
Men:
10K - 34:00
Half Marathon - 1:15
Marathon - 2:40
Women:
10K - 40:00
Half Marathon - 1:30
Marathon - 3:15
For the 1 mile run, the elite standard is 4:50 for men and 6:00 for women.

Equivalent performances at other race distances will also be considered.  Please list them on your application.
2016 Elite Application

Prize Money
15K Run: Prize money to top 3 male/female overall and top male/female master (40 & over).
1st place - $200
2nd place - $150
3rd place - $100
1st Master - $50

1 Mile Run: Prize money to top 3 male/female overall.
1st place - $75
2nd place - $50
3rd place - $25

​5K Run: There will be no prize money offered for the 5k event.

All prize money winners will be determined by gun time and will be excluded from age group awards.  There will be no double dipping for prize money.
